Four groups receive Give Back Awards from Grow Greene County
A tradition was started in 2016 by the Grow Greene County board of directors to surprise deserving agencies in Greene County with a Give Back Award during the holiday season. This year on the heels of a very successful referendum vote the Grow Greene County board gave four Give Back Awards.
It all started on Nov. 11 when board members made a surprise $5,000 donation to VFW Post 9599 to assist them with needed roof repairs.
On Nov. 16 GGC board members surprised Adopt a Family with $5,000 to be used toward their holiday food baskets and Operation Warm Heart which provides winter coats to persons in need.
The fun continued Nov. 17 when board members were able to donate to the ARC food pantry $5,000 that will benefit the purchase of meat for distribution at the food pantry.
The final award was given out on Dec. 13 to the Greene County 4-H Foundation to assist them in renovations to the 4-H Clover Café on the Greene County Fair grounds.
Grow Greene County board members enjoy the giving of these awards and know that the entities receiving the gifts reach residents from across the county.
